The Syrian Negotiation Commission Lays the Foundation for Dialogue on Syrian Unity and Partnership

On the second day of the Berlin seminar, discussions organized by the Syrian Negotiation Commission continued with the participation of representatives of the Syrian community in Germany, focusing on issues of transitional justice and mechanisms for cooperation between the Commission and Syrian civil society.
The day included a session on “Universal Jurisdiction” that discussed war crimes and crimes against humanity in Syria, and how to benefit from international experiences to enhance trials and accountability. The importance of documentation and supporting victims was emphasized, along with the efforts of the Negotiation Commission to follow up on this file at the international level.
The role of the families of detainees was also addressed, including the challenges they face and the need for cooperation between the Negotiation Commission and civil society organizations specialized in issues of detainees and transitional justice.
In another session, mechanisms for cooperation between the Negotiation Commission and Syrian civil society in Germany were discussed. The importance of joint work between women’s organizations and political entities was highlighted, along with the necessity of coordinating with the Negotiation Commission to amplify the voice of the Syrian community on issues related to Syria’s future.
