France Confirms Support for a Political Solution According to International Resolutions
The Syrian Negotiation Commission Delegation Meets with the Director of the Middle East Department at the French Foreign Ministry

Dr. Badr Jamous, president of the Syrian Negotiation Commission, and his accompanying delegation met yesterday in New York with Ms. Anne Grillo, the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the French Foreign Ministry. They discussed France’s active role in the Syrian file, its influence within the European Union, and the importance of continuing and enhancing existing policies to benefit the Syrian people and their cause.
During the meeting, which included the Commission’s Secretary-General, Safwan Akash, along with members Jamal Suleiman, Dima Moussa, and Fadwa Al-Ajili, Dr. Jamous emphasized the significance of France’s involvement in the Syrian issue and the necessity of maintaining the current policy framework. He called for concerted efforts to advance the political process and negotiations aimed at achieving a political solution in accordance with UN Resolution 2254. He stressed that any rapprochement with the Syrian regime outside a comprehensive political framework would be ineffective in addressing critical issues such as refugees, terrorism, and drug trafficking, which have worsened in recent years due to the regime’s actions.
Dr. Jamous highlighted the need to support the political process as outlined in international resolutions, which are essential for reaching a comprehensive political solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people. He called for increased international pressure to facilitate a genuine Syrian political solution and to prevent the regime from obstructing this process.
He also underscored the vital role of the international community in supporting political solutions in Syria, providing humanitarian assistance to the Syrian population, and the contributions that the Security Council and the General Assembly
