The President of the Syrian Negotiation Commission, Dr. Badr Jamous, spoke about the inevitability of a political solution in accordance with international resolutions and the need for the international community to unite efforts to advance this issue. He highlighted the pivotal role of the United States in the Syrian issue and the significant impact it can have.

During a phone call between the President of the Commission and the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Mr. Ethan Goldrich, Dr. Jamous emphasized that the Negotiation Commission is making all possible efforts to push for a political solution in accordance with international resolutions. The Commission is working both locally and internationally to achieve tangible results in this direction.

He also expressed his conviction that the international community must use all available tools to impose sanctions on the Syrian regime, activate mechanisms to hold it accountable for crimes committed against Syrians, and the necessity for U.S. pressure to establish binding mechanisms to compel the regime to comply with international resolutions and prevent it from evading their implementation.

The President of the Commission thanked Mr. Goldrich for the efforts he made during his tenure as the official responsible for the Syrian file at the U.S. Department of State and for the support he provided to the Syrian people. He expressed his confidence in Mr. Goldrich’s continued support for the legitimate demands of the Syrian people in his future roles.

For his part, Mr. Goldrich reaffirmed his country’s steadfast support for reaching a just and comprehensive political solution in Syria based on international resolutions. He also reiterated support for a Syrian-led political process facilitated by the United Nations to fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 2254, achieving the Syrian people’s legitimate aspirations for freedom, justice, and the end of tyranny.
