Dialogue Meeting in Al-Ra’i City with the President of the Commission and Its Members
Dr. Bader Jamous Stresses the Importance of Involving Women and Youth in Political Engagement

As part of the Commission’s plan to expand participation in collaboration with various sectors and groups of the Syrian people, the President of the Syrian Negotiation Commission, Dr. Bader Jamous, along with Commission members Ms. Hanadi Abou Arab, lawyer Tarek Al-Kurdi, and Brigadier General Ahmed Othman, participated last Monday in a dialogue meeting organized by the Commission and the Local Councils Unit in Al-Ra’i city. The meeting included groups of youth, women, activists, and individuals with disabilities from the Association of People of Determination, as well as active groups in northwest Syria.
During the meeting, which he attended virtually, the President presented the latest political developments related to the Syrian file, the current international reality, the results of international meetings, and the efforts being made by the Negotiation Commission at the Arab and international levels. He emphasized the Commission’s efforts to urge countries to adopt binding UN mechanisms to implement international resolutions concerning the Syrian issue, particularly Resolution 2254, in a comprehensive and strict manner.
He specifically addressed the importance of the role of youth and women in the political process and decision-making, the necessity of activating participation and communication between youth and women, and the importance of involving them in political life and the negotiation process at all levels. He stressed their significant and pioneering role in the political life of the desired state, affirming the Commission’s interest in also involving individuals with disabilities in the political process and recognizing their capability to contribute meaningfully.
The discussion highlighted the importance of practical training for the leaders of these essential groups, focusing on developing their knowledge and refining their skills to leverage their experiences effectively. He emphasized the necessity of broadening training initiatives across all segments of society, viewing this as vital for strengthening democracy and promoting sustainable development. Such efforts would increase awareness of political rights and responsibilities while ensuring fair and inclusive representation of diverse perspectives and interests within the community.
The attendees discussed the specific needs and priorities of each group and explored ways to enhance coordination and communication with the Syrian Negotiation Commission.
