Yesterday, in Ankara, the President of the Syrian Negotiation Commission, Dr. Badr Jamous, met with the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Noah Yilmaz, and the Director General of the Syria Department at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mustafa Yurdakul. A constructive dialogue took place covering numerous issues related to the latest developments in the political solution and the conditions of Syrians.

Dr. Jamous reviewed the latest updates on the Syrian political solution, highlighting the impact of regional political and security situations on it. He stressed the importance of mobilizing efforts ahead of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meetings to support the political solution and ensure the Syrian issue remains a priority for the international community. He emphasized the necessity of adhering to international resolutions, particularly the Geneva Communique and UN Resolution 2254, and implementing them fully and strictly.

He expressed his conviction in the futility of all attempts to normalize relations with the Syrian regime, predicting the colossal failure of any effort to rehabilitate this regime after it caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Syrian citizens, displaced and uprooted millions, and destroyed Syria’s infrastructure, economy, and the foundations of a modern state. He pointed out that Syrians, more than 13 years after the revolution began, are still striving to achieve their goals of freedom, justice, and a state of citizenship and law through the implementation of the internationally agreed-upon political solution.

The meeting also addressed the conditions of Syrian refugees in Turkey and developments within Syria, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts with Turkey for the benefit of both peoples and countries. Dr. Jamous highlighted the need for continuous dialogue and communication to resolve all issues and find the most effective solutions aimed at improving the situation of Syrians and ensuring the best possible coexistence with the Turkish people, taking into account the conditions of Syrians in Turkey and the difficulties they face. He praised Turkey’s support for the Syrian people in achieving their legitimate aspirations.

For his part, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Noah Yilmaz reaffirmed Turkey’s support for a negotiated political solution to the Syrian issue in accordance with international resolutions, particularly the Geneva Communique and UN Resolution 2254. He emphasized that the implementation of these resolutions is the path approved by the international community, ensuring sustainable security and stability.
