A large number of representatives from the Syrian community and civil society organizations participated in a multi-session dialogue seminar organized by the Syrian Negotiation Commission in Berlin, attended by the president of the commission, Dr. Badr Jamous. The future and reality of the political process were at the forefront of the discussions, with notable attendance from the Syrian community in Germany.Many participants offered important and serious opinions that contribute to clarifying the current situation and exploring possibilities for the future.

In the first session titled “Challenges and Regional and International Changes,” which included the participation of Negotiation Commission member Mr. Jamal Suleiman, Youssef Kouria, and Nour Burhan, and was moderated by Rand Al-Sabbagh, the rapid changes in the Middle East and their significant potential impacts on the region were reviewed, along with their direct implications for the Syrian issue.The discussions also addressed the importance of international meetings and the consultations among Syrians regarding the common Syrian cause, its regional and international political path, and achieving political transition in accordance with Resolution 2254. The importance of forming a united front by the Negotiation Commission with the Syrians was emphasized, with everyone working towards a unified goal and struggle from their respective positions and through the available tools. It was noted that coordination among Syrians is necessary to have a clear and unified strategy and project that responds to challenges and can navigate around impasses.

In the second session of the first day, titled “The Impact of Challenges on the Political Process,” which included the participation of commission member Mr. Ibrahim Al-Jabawi, Midas Azezi, Sabah Al-Halaq, and Ibrahim Al-Jabin, and was moderated by Saba Al-Hakim, the discussion focused on international and regional intervention in Syria, as well as the Russian military intervention, and Russia’s political pressure in the UN Security Council. The conversation also touched on political and military projects in the region, the conflicting interests of intervening countries in the Syrian issue, the absence of a comprehensive Arab project, and the effectiveness of Syrian lobbies in active countries, emphasizing the need for these lobbies to be based on scientific and realistic foundations.The importance of accountability and transitional justice was highlighted, along with the necessity for all parties, including the regime, the self-administration, and other forces that have committed crimes against Syrians, to adhere to and follow up on this issue.
