Tarek Al-Kurdi, a member of the Syrian Negotiation Commission and head of its legal office, participated in a workshop organized by the Stabilization Support Unit in the city of Azaz. The workshop, titled “The Role of Law in Creating a Safe and Neutral Environment,” featured Al-Kurdi providing detailed explanations on the role of law in the political process according to international resolutions, with a particular focus on ensuring the sustainability of a safe and neutral environment.

The workshop explored the impact of the legal system on public freedoms and examined how laws can protect and promote individual and collective freedoms without imposing undue restrictions. It also analyzed the legal framework in the liberated areas of northwest Syria, identifying both its strengths and challenges. Discussions included strategies for improving and developing laws to better meet the actual needs of the population, thereby ensuring justice and equality.

The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including jurists, legal experts, academics, representatives from professional unions and associations, civil society organizations, and Syrian politicians. Engaging discussions and participatory dialogues enriched the workshop, shedding light on various aspects of the topic and providing valuable insights.
