Within the framework of enhancing communication and cooperation between the Syrian Negotiating Commission and political and civil forces, and in implementation of the ongoing efforts aimed at supporting the political process, expanding the horizons of consultation and participation in it, and involving all forces of Syrian society in the political process, the Syrian Negotiating Commission participated at the invitation of the Stability Support Unit in a dialogue session, yesterday, Friday, in Istanbul, in which a large number of representatives of Syrian political and civil forces participated.

The head of the Syrian Negotiating Commission, Dr. Badr Jamous, participated in the discussions, and the sessions were moderated by the Legal Advisor to the Stability Support Unit, Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Awak, while Mr. Anas Al-Abdah, Colonel Yasser Abdul Rahim, and the head of the legal office in the Commission, lawyer Tariq Al-Kurdi, participated as well.

The dialogue session aimed to discuss the options available to the forces of the Syrian revolution and opposition in light of the current changes in the region, explore ways of institutional building, and maintain the importance of institutional work in the context of the support provided to the Syrian cause.

The head of the SNC reviewed the latest activities, work and meetings carried out by the Commission over the local and international arenas, the latest developments in the political process, the positions of countries, especially European ones, the results of the SNC’s meetings with members of the UN Security Council last month, the details of the European strategy towards the Syrian issue, the absurdity of normalization and the lack of any tangible results from it, and many issues related to the Syrian issue politically.

He spoke about the importance of cooperation between the SNC and the various Syrian political and civil forces, and its constant endeavor to partner with civil society in all its diversity, and to benefit from experiences and ideas in the context of developing the political process and available options.

The delegation of the SNC also spoke about analyzing the challenges and opportunities at the regional and international levels, and opportunities for cooperation between the various parties, whether at the Syrian national level or at the international level, and many topics related to political, legal and humanitarian files.
