  • Leader in the Communist Labor Party, spent more than 17 years in the regime’s prisons.
  • Leader in the National Democratic Gathering until 2011.
  • Former Executive Office member of the Damascus Declaration for Democratic Change.
  • Head of the Media Office for the Damascus Declaration for Democratic Change until 2008.
  • Founding member of the National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change.
  • Former Deputy Coordinator-General of the National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change.
  • Former Secretary-General of the National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change.
  • Arrested three times after 2011.
  • Participated in numerous conferences representing the Syrian opposition in Cairo, Moscow, and Riyadh.
  • Banned from returning to Syria following his participation in the Moscow 2 Conference at the end of 2014.
  • Elected Secretary-General of the High Negotiations Commission for two terms after the Riyadh 1 Conference.
  • Elected Secretary-General of the Syrian Negotiation Commission after the Riyadh 2 Conference.
  • Member of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.
  • Member of the Small Constitutional Committee representing the Syrian opposition.
